Organic and Relational
Success for us has more to do with the number and depth of our relationships to each other here at the DISTILLERY, than in the number of people who attend our services on Sunday..
If we remain a relatively small in number group who manages to maintain some quality relationships with each other and the world, we feel that we are successfully and methodically moving towards the right kind of growth.
Much like the idea of taking a full grown tree and planting it in enough soil to hold it upright does not make it a healthy tree, we believe that taking a church plant and launching it based on statistics, and systems models, rather than on human relationships can at times make it an unhealthy church.
Instead we are willing to tolerate errors on the side of congregation size, if it means a healthier group of people coming together in genuine friendship and community to accomplish good in the name of the Kingdom of God
How does this look?
In everything we do and plan here at the DISTILLERY we think about whether or not it is organicor not.
Another way to look at organic is the word “natural.” Our batches are designed to draw people to them that would naturally be drawn to that particular activity.
Our gathering is very low-key and does not require a huge amount of money, human resources, or time to prepare and do.
We would never send out flyers or mailers to people that we do not know and have not met in order to grow our community.
We believe that the best way to grow is through word of mouth advertising as people experience real friendship and community.
