Men and Women

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Gen 1:27)

26You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, 27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Gal 3:26-29)

We believe that men and women are created beings that complement each other in many ways. When a ministry is led by both men and women, we believe that it begins to reflect the true image of God. In community, men and women need each other.

With this in mind, we also believe that any job or position of leadership that a man can do, a woman can do as well and vice versa. For this reason we adopt a position of complementarity, without hierarchy.

Men and women in our community are encouraged to participate and are highly valued in all positions of leadership in our church.

How does this look?

People will be considered for roles in our community based on their giftings, experience, and positional fitness. Gender is not considered.

There are no roles in our community that require specialized academic degrees. For example, a person who has spent much of their time raising children and caring for their family is just as valuable to our community as someone who has pursued a seminary degree.
